18th Annual Midwest Winter

Various Artists, Juried Exhibit

From the icy beauty of a mid-winter morning to the excitement of a snowy slalom run, the many faces of winter inspire American and international artists. They respond with pens and paints, with photos and fiber, and more.  A juried show.

February 22 thru April 6, 2008  (Gallery Gala: Friday, February 29th,  5 - 7 pm)

Material Connections

Their raw materials are metals, glass, fiber and clay.  With these elements, artists Randy Verhasselt, Garrett Arnold, Beth Paustian and Eric Gunderson explore the inter-connectedness of all things: the organic and the inorganic.

April 11 thru May 18, 2008  (Gallery Gala: Friday, April 11th, 5 - 7 pm)

Body Art

With its roots in ancient cultures, the ART OF TATTOO is vibrantly alive today.  Respond to the photographed work of five body artists in the gallery on ARTsblock.  Veering off the concept, the CVA includes creatively customized motorcycle bodies in the show.

An ancient art form, today's technology has encouraged everyone to have an indelible accessory.  They run the gamut from whimsical minis to complex scenes on the expanses of skin that are the artist's palette.  The CVA takes the concept a step further including cycle body art in the show.

One with paint, the other with fiber, two artists speak of the places that are part of their lives.  Painter Kelly Meredith (Butternut, WI) captures the back roads, woodlots and waterways of Wisconsin.

With multiple textures and interweaving words, Bonnie Peterson (Elmhurst, IL) pieces together the landforms that are meaningful to her.
