Volunteer Job Descriptions
Due to the nature of our organization, and the art pieces we work with, the Volunteer Committee has set certain guidelines and age limits for volunteers. The CVA accepts volunteers 16 years of age and older.
Volunteers between the ages of 16-18 years old can volunteer for the following positions: gallery greeter/docent; teacher aid; office assistant; and at certain special events. Volunteers who are 18 years and older can volunteer for any of the positions listed below. For certain events, we also welcome the help of youth younger than 16 with a parent or guardian present.
Open the galleries and greet visitors
Share exhibit, artist, and class information
Answer visitor questions or refer to staff
Track gallery attendance by the hour
Gives tours of CVA facility and history to interested visitors
Gift Shop Attendant
Assist customers with handling artwork
Track gift shop attendance and sales by the hour
Keep gift shop in neat condition
Plan and/or implement an art course or workshop for special event or full art class
Set-up and tear-down classroom
Create a positive & encouraging environment for exploratory creation
Assist head teacher with implementing classroom objectives
Help set-up and tear-down classroom
Encourage and assist students with projects
Assist staff with various projects on an as needed basis
Construction, decoration, heavy lifting, minor utility work
Assist staff with gallery design, hanging artwork, and lighting in galleries prior to show openings
Assist staff with removing artwork and safely storing work for pick up
Treat all artwork with care and respect
Assist with as needed data entry, stuffing envelopes, labeling, organization, and gallery card distribution
Special Event Help
Exhibit Openings, Art of Wine, Expressions, etc.
Registration, Ticket sales, Set-up, Clean-up, Greeter, etc.
