Making Faces w/ Meghan Sullivan (November 15 & 16)

This workshop will explore sculpting small heads in clay. Using solid building techniques, students will learn about facial anatomy and proportion. On the first day, they will learn how to quickly sculpt and measure facial features. On the second day, they will refine and learn how to hollow the solid built head. Students should bring print outs of photos go their faces from the front and side view. Once the firing process is complete, we'll notify you that your finished projects are ready to be picked up.
All supplies included.
Instructor Bio: Meghan Sullivan received her BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and her MFA from the University of Nebraska. She is a ceramic artist whose work explores ideas of our shared humanity through narrative and figurative sculpture. She has exhibited nationally and internationally. Sullivan has been an artist in resident in many studios, including Mudflat Studio, c.r.e.t.a. Rome, Studio Shiro Oni in Japan, and the Skopelos Foundation for the Arts in Greece. She has taught at the Gulf Coast State College, Pacific University, and is currently an Assistant Professor of Art at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Occasionally the Center for the Visual Arts (CVA) may find it necessary to cancel a course or workshop due to low enrollment or other scheduling conflicts. If this occurs, registered students will be contacted and allowed to transfer to another class or be refunded the full course tuition and any additional fees.
