Expressions Kids' Day of ART 2026 (Saturday, March 7)
Date: Saturday, March 7
Time: 9:00am-3:30pm
Cost: $25.00 - Full scholarships are available: https://www.cvawausau.org/scholarships
Children, ages 6-12, are invited to choose their own track of courses from which they will experience a multitude of mediums through the creation of four-five different projects per track. As our longest running educational program, the CVA aims to promote art appreciation, the development of new skill-sets and build confidence through self-expression within our area youth.
TRACK ONE: Applied Arts
Applied Arts blends creativity with practical function. Students will learn valuable skills for everyday use, such as ceramics, sewing, textile design, and simple construction, while designing and creating functional, high-quality works of art.
TRACK TWO: 2D Design & Media
Two-dimensional art encompasses any visual work existing in height and width, including drawing, painting, printmaking, and photography. Students will learn fundamental drawing techniques, such as gridding, different ways of mark-making, and composition.
TRACK THREE: 3D Sculpture & Form
Three-dimensional art is defined by having height, width, and depth (form). Students will investigate sculptural principles by experimenting with materials like clay, wire, and wood to create their own unique forms and spatial installations.
TRACK FOUR: Graphic Storytelling
Graphic Storytelling is a narrative told primarily through visual media. Students will strengthen their visual communication and storytelling skills by illustrating and creating sequential stories, graphic novels, and visual narratives across a variety of mediums.
We ask that each students brings a packed lunch and snack each day of the event.*
Due to the ceramic process, all clay projects will be ready at a later date. Parents will be emailed with pick-up instructions once the items are fully fired. Thank you!
