Animal Mugs w/ Debbie Kupinsky (September 20)

Create sculpted animal cups in this one session class. Students will learn to create functional cups out of slabs so they can be shaped into animals. The instructor will demonstrate and assist students in adding shapes and details that reference cats, rabbits and other favorite animals through the use of carving, adding and sculpting the wet form. Students will use their own references or instructor provided resources. Techniques include slab construction, adding elements, handles, carving and underglaze painting.

All supplies included.

Instructor Bio: Debbie Kupinsky received her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute and her MFA from Louisiana State University. Her creative work often explores the way we mediate experience through images and objects including animals and the natural world. She has been a resident artist at the Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts, The Appalachian Center for Crafts in Smithville, TN and the Arts in Industry program at Kohler in Sheboygan, WI. Her work is in the permanent collection of the Long Beach Museum of Art, The Archie Bray Foundation and the Kohler Company among others. She has taught art in higher education in Northeast Wisconsin for over 15 years and shows her work nationally, internationally and regionally. She maintains a studio in Appleton, WI.
